PeerNotes is a shared idea and thinking workspace built for teams. Whether you’re just hearing about it for the first time or already getting started, the answers below cover the questions we hear most often.
PeerNotes is currently in early access. To request an invitation, sign up on the waitlist at forms.gle/aNnZjd8pVNitfwse7. Once a spot opens up, you’ll receive an email with instructions to create your account and log in at peernotes.io.
During early access, PeerNotes is available at no cost. Pricing plans for general availability have not been announced yet. Early access members will be notified of any upcoming changes well in advance.
The PeerNotes browser extension works with all Chromium-based browsers, including:
  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Brave
  • Arc
  • Opera
Firefox support is not available at this time. If your browser is Chromium-based and not listed here, try following the manual installation steps — it may still work.
Because the PeerNotes extension is a pre-release build, it is not yet listed on the Chrome Web Store. You install it manually as an unpacked extension. For full step-by-step instructions, see the browser extension setup guide.
Yes. The core PeerNotes workspace — thoughts, notes, sources, topics, articles, and the AI assistant — is fully accessible at peernotes.io without the extension. The browser extension adds the web clipper, which lets you save content from any webpage directly into your workspace. If you don’t need clipping, you can skip the extension entirely.
The web clipper is a feature built into the PeerNotes browser extension. It lets you highlight text, images, or entire pages from any website and save them directly to your PeerNotes workspace with a single click. Clipped content keeps its source URL so you can always trace it back to the original page.
Open Chat in the sidebar and ask your assistant anything — it answers with your workspace as context, so you can ask about your own thoughts, notes, and sources. Rather than writing for you, it’s designed to sharpen your thinking: surfacing the questions a careful reader would ask and resurfacing related thinking you’ve already captured. During early access, PeerNotes is designed as a shared workspace for teams where all members have accounts. Sharing with external collaborators who don’t have a PeerNotes account is not currently supported. This may change as the product evolves — share your feedback in Discord if this is important to you.
Because the extension is installed manually, it doesn’t update automatically. When a new version is released, download the latest ZIP file, extract it, and reload the unpacked extension in your browser’s extension manager. For detailed steps, see the troubleshooting guide.
