Brave, Arc, and Opera are all built on the Chromium engine and support Chrome extensions natively. This means the manual unpacked install process works the same way across all three browsers — enable Developer mode, load the unpacked folder, and you are ready to go. Follow the tab for your browser below.
The PeerNotes extension is currently a pre-release build and is not yet listed in any browser extension store. This manual installation process is temporary and will be replaced by a standard one-click store install once the extension is published.

Installation steps

Extract the ZIP file

Locate the downloaded PeerNotes ZIP file and extract it to a permanent folder on your computer. Brave needs continuous access to this folder, so avoid moving or deleting it after installation.

Open the Extensions page

Open Brave and navigate to brave://extensions/ in the address bar.

Enable Developer mode

In the top-right corner of the Extensions page, toggle on Developer mode.

Load the unpacked extension

Click Load unpacked. A file picker will open.

Select the extension folder

Navigate to and select the folder you extracted in step 1. Click Select Folder (or Open on macOS).

Confirm the installation

The PeerNotes extension will appear in your Extensions list. It is now installed and ready to use.

Tips

Open the extension popup. After installing, click the PeerNotes icon in your browser toolbar to open the extension popup and sign in to your workspace.
Managing the extension. Return to your browser’s extensions page (brave://extensions, arc://extensions, or opera://extensions) at any time to enable, disable, or remove PeerNotes.
Updating to a newer version. Download the latest ZIP file, extract it to replace the existing folder, then open your extensions page and click the reload icon on the PeerNotes card to apply the update.
