The PeerNotes browser extension is currently available as a pre-release build. It has not yet been submitted to the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store, so you will install it manually by loading the unpacked extension through Edge’s Developer mode. The process is straightforward and only takes a few moments to complete.
This installation process is temporary. Once the PeerNotes extension is available through the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store, you will be able to install it directly from there and receive automatic updates. Manual unpacked installs will no longer be required at that point.

Installation steps

1

Extract the ZIP file

Locate the downloaded PeerNotes ZIP file and extract it to a permanent folder on your computer. Keep this folder in place — Edge needs continuous access to it while the extension is loaded.
2

Open the Extensions page

Open Edge and navigate to edge://extensions/ in the address bar.
3

Enable Developer mode

In the left sidebar of the Extensions page, toggle on Developer mode.
4

Load the unpacked extension

Click Load unpacked. A file picker will open.
5

Select the extension folder

Navigate to and select the folder you extracted in step 1. Click Select Folder (or Open on macOS).
6

Confirm the installation

The PeerNotes extension will appear in your Extensions list. It is now installed and ready to use.

Tips

Pin the extension for quick access. Click the puzzle-piece icon in the Edge toolbar, find PeerNotes in the list, and click the eye icon to pin it so it stays visible in your toolbar at all times.
Managing the extension. Return to edge://extensions at any time to enable, disable, or remove the PeerNotes extension.
Updating to a newer version. Download the latest ZIP file, extract it to replace the existing folder, then go to edge://extensions and click the reload icon on the PeerNotes card to apply the update.
