Frequently asked questions

PeerNotes is in research preview, open to teams. Go to peernotes.io and sign in with your Google account to create your workspace. It’s free while in preview — no card required. See get.peernotes.io/download for every way to reach your workspace.
PeerNotes supports Google sign-in only — there’s no email-and-password login. On the sign-in screen, select Continue with Google. To use a different Google account, choose Use another account. Make sure you sign in with the same Google address your workspace admin added to the team.
While PeerNotes is in research preview, it’s free — no card required. Pricing for general availability hasn’t been announced; preview users will be notified of changes well in advance.
The PeerNotes clipper works in all Chromium-based browsers — Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Arc, and Opera. Firefox and Safari support is on the way. Until then, use a Chromium-based browser or clip from the mobile apps.
No. The full workspace — thoughts, notes, sources, topics, and the Peer Agent — runs in any browser at peernotes.io. The extension adds the web clipper for saving pages as you read; skip it if you don’t need clipping.
Open Chat in the sidebar and ask it anything — it answers with your workspace as context (your thoughts, notes, sources, and topics). You can also tag it in a comment on any thought, note, or source. It’s built to sharpen your thinking, not write for you. See Chat and Peer Agent.
Not currently — PeerNotes is designed as a shared workspace where every member has an account. If external sharing matters to you, add it at feedback.peernotes.io.
All of it lives at feedback.peernotes.io — file bugs, post feature requests, follow the roadmap, and read new-release notes. For account-specific or private matters, use email support from your account settings at peernotes.io.

Leaving or deleting a workspace

Both actions live in Workspace settings → Danger zone, opened from the workspace switcher. See Workspace settings for the full detail.

Leave a workspace

Any member — admin or not — can leave a workspace.
1

Open Workspace settings → Danger zone

Select Leave workspace. There’s no type-to-confirm step.
2

You lose access

Your membership becomes inactive and the workspace drops out of your switcher. An admin can re-invite you later.
If you’re the workspace’s only admin, promote another member to admin first — otherwise no one is left who can manage it.

Delete a workspace

Deleting is admin-only and permanent.
Deleting removes the workspace and all of its notes, thoughts, topics, and member associations. This cannot be undone.
In Danger zone, type the workspace name to confirm, then select Delete workspace (the button stays disabled until the name matches exactly).

Troubleshooting

Can’t sign in

1

Use Continue with Google

PeerNotes only supports Google sign-in. If you don’t see a Google button, you’re on the wrong page — always sign in from peernotes.io.
2

Pick the right Google account

Choose Use another account and select the Google address your admin added to the workspace. Signing in with a personal address that isn’t on the team will succeed but land you with no workspace.
3

Ask your admin to check your membership

If you were added but still can’t get in, have a workspace admin confirm your Google address is on the members list in Workspace settings → People.
4

Avoid in-app browsers

Google sign-in is blocked inside apps like Slack, LinkedIn, or Instagram. Open the link in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, or Opera instead.

Clipper won’t install

1

Use a Chromium-based browser

The clipper installs from the Chrome Web Store and runs in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, and Opera. Firefox and Safari aren’t supported yet.
2

Check for a managed-device block

On a work or school profile, your organisation may block Web Store installs. Ask your IT admin, or install on a personal profile.
3

Reload open tabs

Refresh any pages that were open before you added the clipper so it can activate on them.

Clipper icon missing from the toolbar

Click the puzzle-piece icon in your browser toolbar, find PeerNotes, and pin it so it stays visible.

Web clipper isn’t saving

1

Reload the page and try again

Extensions sometimes need a page reload to activate — especially right after installing.
2

Confirm the extension is enabled

Open your browser’s extensions page and check PeerNotes is toggled on.
3

Check you're signed in

The clipper needs an active session. Open peernotes.io, confirm you’re signed in with Google, then return to the page and clip again.

Notes aren’t syncing or aren’t showing for teammates

1

Refresh the page

A manual refresh pulls the latest data and clears most one-off sync hiccups.
2

Check the item is shared

Teammates only see thoughts, notes, and sources you’ve turned Share with workspace on for. See Sharing & privacy.
3

Check your connection

PeerNotes syncs in real time and needs an active connection — confirm no VPN or firewall is blocking peernotes.io.
4

Sign out and back in

This refreshes a stale session that can quietly block sync.

Clipper is out of date

The Chrome Web Store version updates itself in the background. To force it: open your browser’s extensions page, enable Developer mode, and click Update. If you’re still on an old manually-loaded build, remove it and reinstall from the Chrome Web Store.
