A workspace is the container for everything in PeerNotes: the people, the sources they read, the thoughts they capture, the notes they develop, the topics that organize it all, and the Peer Agent that works alongside them. Every other concept lives inside a workspace.

What’s private, what’s shared

Every thought, note, and source is private to you until you choose to share it. Sharing is a per-item toggle — Share with workspace — and it’s always reversible.

Private

Only you can see it. New thoughts, notes, and sources start here.

Shared with the workspace

Every member can read it and comment on it. Notes can also take on collaborators who edit alongside you.
Defaults for new items are set per type in Preferences → Sharing. The split is the point: capture stays honest because it starts private, and the shared layer stays high-signal because everything in it was deliberately shared.

Members and admins

Every workspace has two roles: Managing members and settings is covered in Workspace settings — which is also where you leave a workspace, or, as an admin, delete one.

Belonging to several workspaces

You can be part of more than one workspace — say, one for your team and one for a reading group — and switch between them from the workspace switcher. Each workspace is fully separate: its own members, topics, sources, notes, chat history, and Peer Agent settings. Your user preferences follow you across all of them.
