# Comments and mentions

> Discuss any shared thought, note, or source inline — attach comments to highlighted passages, @mention teammates or the Peer Agent, react, and resolve threads.

Comments are how a team talks about a specific piece of thinking without leaving it. They work on any **thought**, **note**, or **source** that's shared with the workspace (or that you can edit).

## Add a comment

* On a **thought**, add a comment from its card.
* On a **note** or **source**, **select the passage** you're reacting to and choose **Comment** — the comment attaches to that highlight, and the text is marked so the next reader sees what you meant. Highlights come in six colors.

Type `@` to **mention** someone: a teammate gets notified, and **PeerNotes Agent** pulls the [Peer Agent](/core-concepts/peer-agent#tag-it-in-a-comment) into the thread to answer.

## Threads

Each comment is a thread:

* **Reply** to keep a discussion together.
* **React** with an emoji for a quick +1 without adding noise.
* **Edit** or **delete** your own comments.
* **Resolve** a thread when it's handled — resolved threads collapse into a **Resolved** section at the bottom, and can be reopened.

## Notifications

By default you get an email when someone **comments on your** thought or note, or **@mentions you** anywhere. The link in the email opens the exact comment. Adjust this in [Preferences → Notifications](/features/preferences#notifications).
